Back in more innocent times – May 08, when oil was peaking
at $150 a barrel, q director Richard Quinlan and BNN host Amanda
Lang took a look at Norway’s enviable sovereign wealth
fund and compared it to Alberta’s Heritage Fund. The
half-hour special is a compelling look at two very different
approaches to black gold. Norway’s disciplined approach
to saving wealth from a non-renewable resource is enviable – and
a model for oil rich countries from around the world.
The show features incredible visuals by
cameraman Steve Adamcryck, including Olso’s streets, the Nobel Peace Centre, Norway’s
Oil Capital, Stavanger and the spectacular, rugged West Coast. Editor
Thomas Paloheimo helps provide a vivid contrast between two oil
giants. The special premiered July 24th, 2008 on BNN.
